Oats khichdi

Oats Khichdi is  easy to make without putting any effort and is a solution to your meal when you don't have much time to cook . It is healthy and nutritious for your breakfast or lunch. 

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup dry roasted oats
  • 1 cup chopped broccoli
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1/3 cup chopped green Capsicum (you can also take yellow and red Capsicum)
  • 1/3 cup chopped beans
  • 1/2 Cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 finely chopped green chilli
  • 15-18 curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp black mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seed
  • 1 tbsp chana dal (split chickpeas)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala 
  • Half lemon juice
  • Salt as per needed
  • Some chopped coriander leaves
  • 3 cup hot water
  • 1 tbsp oil 

Method :

  1.  Add oil, black mustard seeds and cumin seeds in a pan and let it split
     
  2. Then add ginger, green chilli , chana dal and curry leaves 

     
  3. Saute it until chana dal turns golden brown at low flame
     
  4. Now, add broccoli , capsicum, peas, beans ,tomato, turmeric powder and coriander powder and saute for 1-2 minutes
     
  5. After that, add oats to it and again saute it for 5 mins
     
  6. Then add hot water and salt and cover it with a lid for 10 minutes at low flame
     
  7.  Add cumin powder, black pepper powder, garam masala , lemon juice and coriander leaves to it and mix it well. If Khichdi is thick,add water to adjust the consistency according to you

  8. Your khichdi is ready . Serve it with curd or pickle
